I strongly urge some form of internet filter/monitor for any household with kids/teens
i’ve personally used and recommended netnanny for years (they used to be called
as a parent, i strongly urge some form of internet filter/monitor for any household with
kids/teens. hormones/curiosity + unrestricted access to porn = (you do the
pricing is $40/year for the first license and $20/year for each additional
remote access (remote configuration mangt) is actually a built-in feature of the
product. you can log into the NetNanny website and edit your the configuration
of your profile. the profile is then pushed out to all your installations.
my recommended simple config is:
create a guest/default NetNanny user profile (not to be confused with windows
accounts/profiles), with no password, that restricts the categories “porn” and
then you can configure an admin NetNanny profile that has a password, and that
doesn’t have any restrictions. this NetNanny account is used for unfiltered
surfing and config changes.
for our “friends” <cough> that may want use NetNanny to reinforce their own
ideals, i suggest setting the admin account so that you have 1/2 the password
and another person has the other 1/2 etc.
Of course the friendly staff at Koru IT Consulting can help you out with your NetNanny configuration.
